DAY 01: Excursion Sacred Valley of the Incas

If the day you take this tour you have a train ticket to Aguas Calientes, try to make it from 4:00 p.m. onwards, considering that the tour at the Ollantaytambo archaeological site ends at 3:00 p.m. and you need time to get to The train station. It should be noted that in this case you will miss the visit to Chinchero and it is necessary that on the day of the tour you inform the guide that you will end the tour in Ollantaytambo.

In the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel to take you to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, an exuberant agricultural region, created by the Urubamba River and an important source of food for the Incas who continue to supply the city of Cusco with a Majority of their production to this day!

Our first visit point after traveling 1 hour and a half from Cusco is the archaeological center of Pisac located at the top of the mountain. Then we will descend in our bus to the modern Andean market of Pisac, locating in the City of the Same Name

After that, we headed for lunch to the town of Urubamba considered a capital of the valley. There, we have a buffet lunch in one of its charming tourist restaurants that offer traditional Andean cuisine.

The Ollantaytambo fortress is strategically located within the Sacred Valley. This archaeological center is known as the best living example of the streets, houses made on Inca stones and Inca engineering of bygone times. This site is much admired for its huge stones, located on top of the mountain, which in past times was a great defense bastion against the conquerors.

Chinchiero The first inhabitants of the region were the Ayarmacas who, when the first Cusco governors arrived, defended their territory and offered serious resistance before being incorporated into the empire. Chinchero was the place chosen by the Inca Túpac Inca Yupanqui to establish his residence. He ordered the construction of beautiful palaces for his personal use and that of his panaca.

Around 1536, in the middle of the invasion, Manco Inca started his rebellion by burning Chinchero so that the Spanish would not renew their supplies and stop pursuing him in his retreat to unknown jungle regions. When Viceroy Toledo visited Cusco, he stopped at Chinchero. Here he established a reduction of Indians and had the current church built, which was built on beautiful Inca rooms. Later, during the revolution of Túpac Amaru II, the curaca of Chinchero, Mateo García Pamacahua, rose up in favor of the King of Spain to fight the rebel.

We arrive in Cusco around 7 pm.
